Explanation

Examples

Explanation

1) Easily confused with ～そうになった／～かけた. → ～ところだった means “almost…”, usually for unwanted situations.2) Often carries the nuance “fortunately didn’t happen”. → Emphasizes a narrow escape, almost causing consequences.
