Explanation
Used to advise or reassure that it's unnecessary to go that far; often used in casual conversation with a gentle tone.
Examples
1「時間は十分にあるから、そんなに急ぐことはありませんよ」
We have plenty of time, so there's no need to rush.
2「彼の招待だから、あなたがお金を払うことはないと思う」
Since it's his invitation, I don't think you'll have to pay.
3「そんなにがったりすることはありませんよ。まだチャンスがあるんだから」
You don't have to be so disappointed. There's still a chance.
Note
1) Easily misunderstood as “there is no such thing/does not exist”. → ～ことはない here means “no need/not necessary to…”, used to advise or reassure.2) Often used in conversation, with a mild nuance. → Close to “no need to…”.3) Not used to deny the existence of something. → If you want to say “that did not happen”, use a different expression.
