Part 1: ここ、そこ、あそこ: Here, there, over there

Structure

Meaning

ここ：here, this place

そこ：there, that place

あそこ：over there, that place over there

→　Interrogative word　どこ：Where?

こちら：here

そちら：there

あちら：over there

→　Interrogative word　どちら：Where, which way, which direction?

Explanation & Guidance

ここ、そこ、あそこ or こちら、そちら、あちら：Used to indicate places.

In this context, こちら、そちら、あちら are the polite forms of ここ、そこ、あそこ. In addition, こちら、そちら、あちら are also used to indicate direction.

Examples

ここは　かいぎしつです。

This is the meeting room.

あちらは　びょういんです。

The hospital is over there.

Part 4: Question word どちら

Structure
	A:　～は　どちらですか。 B:　～は　Nです。
	Meaning
☞	どちら： has three main meanings: Used to ask about location (the polite form of どこ) Used to ask about direction. Used to ask the name of a country, school, company, etc.
	Explanation & Guidance
☞	When どちら is used to ask for the name of a country or workplace/organization, the answer is usually a proper noun.
	Examples
1.	A:　おくには　どちらですか。 A: Where are you from? B:　わたしの　くには　ベトナムです。 B: I'm from Vietnam.
2.	A:　だいがくは　どちらですか。 A: Which university do you go to? B:　ふじ　だいがくです。 B: Fuji University.

2.	あれは　ドイツの　くるまです。 That over there is a German car.

Structure
	A:　～は　なんがいですか。 B:　～は　～かいです。　　　　　～がい
	Meaning
☞	なんがい：Which floor?
	Explanation & Guidance
☞	The ground floor is counted as the first floor. When counting basement floors, put ちか in front. Example: First basement　→　ちかいっかい
	Examples
1.	A:　とけいうりばは　なんがいですか。 A: Which floor is the watch counter on? B:　さんがいです。 B: On the third floor.
2.	A:　ほんやは　なんがいですか。 A: Which floor is the bookstore on? B:　ちか　にかいです。 B: In the second basement.

	Explanation & Guidance
☞	When stating prices, use numbers together with the currency unit. Example: 80,000 dong: はちまん　ドン

1.	A:　このくつは　いくらですか。 A: How much are these shoes? B:　はっぴゃくえんです。 B: 800 yen.
2.	A:　あのてちょうは　いくらですか。 A: How much is that notebook? B:　ごまんドンです。 B: 50,000 dong.
