～なかなか～ない

Not ~ ing much

◎ Represents a state of affairs where things are not progressing the way the speaker wants.

1. 毎日（まいにち）、練習（れんしゅう）を　しているけど、なかなか　上手（じょうず）に　なりません。
    I am praticing every day, but I am not getting much better.

2. 休（やす）みが　十分（じゅうぶん）　とれなくて、なかなか　かぜが　治（なお）りません。
    I'm unable to take enough time off, so my cold is not getting much better.

～のに［時間（じかん）・費用（ひよう）］

Time, cost

◎ 「の」means「こと」, indicating the amount of time or money required in order to do something. Does after the dictionary form of a verb.

1. 京都（きょうと）に　行（い）くのに、２時間半（じかんはん）　かかります。
    It takes two and a half hours in order to go to Kyoto.

2. 会場（かいじょう）に　入（はい）るのに、この　ハガキが　いります。
    You need this postcard in order to go inside the event site.

～間（あいだ）

During; while

◎ Indicates the extent or interval of a given period of time.

1. 友（とも）だちを待（ま）っている間（あいだ）、本（ほん）を読（よ）んでいました。
    I was reading a book while waiting for my friends.

2. 食事（しょくじ）の間（あいだ）、彼女（かのじょ）はずっとしゃべって　いました。
    She was taking the whole time during the meal.

～でも　かまわない

Don't mind if ~

◎ Represents that something is okay and given permission.

1. ペンがなかったら、えんぴつでも　かまいません。
    If you don't have a pen, I don't mind you using a pencil.

◎ This can be connected to a verb, and in that case it becomes「～てもかまわない」.

1. ５分（ふん）くらいなら、おくれても　かまいません。
    If it's just five minutes, I don't mind if you're late.

2. 代（か）わりに　わたしが行（い）っても、かまいません。
    I don't mind going instead.

Reading

   先週（せんしゅう）から　パソコンの　ちょうしが　悪（わる）く、なかなか　レポートが進（すす）まなくなって　しまいました。それで、お店（みせ）に　持（も）って　行（い）ったら、直（なお）すのに　２週間（しゅうかん）くらい　かかると　言（い）われました。でも、その間（あいだ）、代（か）わりの　パソコンを　貸（か）して　くれる　という　ことでした。パソコンが　ないと　いろいろ　こまるので、借（か）りる　ことに　しました。最初（さいしょ）は　使（つか）いにくいと　思（おも）いましたが、すぐに　なれました。自分（じぶん）の　パソコンより　いいので、このままでも　かまわないと　思（おも）って　います。
