Designed that way for a certain purpose

例：

1. この家（いえ）は屋根（やね）にも窓（まど）があって、太陽（たいよう）の光（ひかり）が上（うえ）からも入（はい）るようになっている。

This house has windows in the roof too, so sunlight comes in from above.

2. トイレに入（はい）ると、電気（でんき）が自動（じどう）でつくようになっている。

In the restroom, the lights automatically turn on when you enter.

3. この学校（がっこう）の音楽室（おんがくしつ）は、楽器（がっき）の音（おと）が外（そと）の人（ひと）に聞（き）こえないようになっています。

The music room at this school is designed so that instrument sounds can't be heard outside.
