Explanation

Strongly asserts the speaker's conjecture: 'certainly...', without doubt

Examples

1「そんなのうそに決（き）まっている。信（しん）じられない」

That has to be a lie. I can't believe it.

2相手（あいて）はプロなんだから、強（つよ）いに決（き）まっている。

The opponent is a professional, so of course they're strong.

3私（わたし）が家（いえ）を出（で）たいと言（い）えば、父（ちち）は反対（はんたい）するに決（き）まっている。

If I say I want to leave home, my father will definitely object.

1) Easily confused with ～に違いない. → ～に決まっている is a very strong assertion, with the feeling 'of course'.2) Usually used in speech, subjective. → Conveys decisiveness, sometimes imposes conviction.3) Not used when certainty is low. → For 'probably', use ～だろう／～かもしれない.
