Do you know the word 「seating order」?
It means which seat is the best, which is the second, and which is the third.
When entering a room, you may have trouble deciding who should sit where.
Have older people, such as teachers and seniors, and guests sit farther from the room entrance.
Please remember that seats far from the entrance are for guests.
Conversely, seats near the entrance should be for members of the household (not guests) and younger people.
When serving tea or snacks to guests, it's more convenient to be near the entrance.
There is also a 「seating order」 when getting into taxis or elevators.
In a taxi, the seat next to the driver's seat is the lowest in the 「seating order」.
In an elevator, the spots near the destination buttons or the 「open/close」 door buttons are lower in the 「seating order」.
In taxis and elevators, let teachers, seniors, and guests board first and get off first.
The seat next to the taxi driver's seat and the area in front of the elevator buttons carry a similar meaning to being near the entrance of a room.
The idea that guests should sit farthest from the entrance can be useful, but the guest's feelings are truly the most important thing.
If, in a restaurant, the person wants to dine while enjoying a view of a beautiful garden, seat them in a spot near the entrance where it's easy to see outside.
