Usage:

名詞（めいし）＋の/動詞（どうし）の【辞書（じしょ）形（けい）・ナイ形（けい）・ている　など】/イ形容詞（けいようし）の辞書（じしょ）形（けい）/ナ形容詞（けいようし）__な

Meaning:

ある状況（じょうきょう）や動作（どうさ）が続（つづ）いている期間（きかん）に、・・・してしまう
finish doing something while a state or action is ongoing

Example:

1.  わたしは夏休（なつやす）みのあいだに、本（ほん）を20冊（さつ）読（よ）みました。
     I read 20 books during the summer vacation.

2.  父（ちち）はいつもわたしに学生（がくせい）のあいだにいろいろな経験（けいけん）をしろと言（い）う。
     My father often told me to gain a lot of experience while I was a student.

3.  「日本（にほん）にいるあいだに、どんなことをしてみたいですか」
     What do you want to try while you're still in Japan?

4.  両親（りょうしん）が元気（げんき）なあいだに、いっしょに旅行（りょこう）したいと思（おも）う。
     While my parents are still healthy, I want to travel with them.

5.  昼前（ひるまえ）の、ひとが少（すく）ないあいだに、食事（しょくじ）をしに行（い）った。
     I eat before noon when there are fewer people.
