～始（はじ）める

Begin ~

◎ Fllows the masu-form of a werb to indicate the beginning of an action. It is used in ways such as「読み始める、食べ始める」.

1. おばあさんは、しずかに話（はなし）し始（はじ）めました。
    My grandmother began to speak quietly.

2. ばんごはんを食（た）べ始（はじ）めた時（とき）、電話（でんわ）が　鳴（な）りました。
    The phone rang when I began to eat dinner.

～ので

Because ~

◎ The「ので」in「学が小さいので」represents a reason.

1. 今（いま）、忙（いそが）しいので、行（い）けません。
    I cannot go right now bacause I am busy.

2. ねぼうしたので、駅（えき）まで　少（すこ）し　走（はし）りました。
    I ran a bit to the station because I overslept.

◎ 「から」is similar to「ので」,and both mean nearly the same thing. While it is difficult to create a clear distinction between the two, as far as peculiarities and traits in usage,「ので」generally has an objective, logical, and polite tone, while「から」is seen as more subjective and emotional.

1. 安（やす）かったので、それを買（か）いました。
    I bought it because it was cheap.

2. これは　きらいだから、いりません。
    I don't need this because I don't like it.

Reading

   今日（きょう）は、来週（らいしゅう）　出（だ）す　レポートを　書（か）き始（はじ）めました。書（か）く　ことは　だいたい　決（き）まって　いますが、じしょで漢字（かんじ）を　しらべるので、時間（じかん）が かかります。また、じしょは　字（じ）が　小（ちい）さいので、目（め）がつかれました。それで、夕方（ゆうがた）、大学（だいがく）の　まわりを少（すこ）し　さんぽしました。さんぽした　あと、目（め）は　だいぶ　楽（らく）になりました。でも、友（とも）だちから　電話（でんわ）が　来（き）て、レポートはあまり進（すす）みませんでした。
