Grammar
~始める
Begin ~◎ Fllows the masu-form of a werb to indicate the beginning of an action. It is used in ways such as「読み始める、食べ始める」.
1. おばあさんは、しずかに話し始めました。
My grandmother began to speak quietly.
2. ばんごはんを食べ始めた時、電話が 鳴りました。
The phone rang when I began to eat dinner.

Because ~◎ The「ので」in「学が小さいので」represents a reason.
1. 今、忙しいので、行けません。
I cannot go right now bacause I am busy.
2. ねぼうしたので、駅まで 少し 走りました。
I ran a bit to the station because I overslept.
◎ 「から」is similar to「ので」,and both mean nearly the same thing. While it is difficult to create a clear distinction between the two, as far as peculiarities and traits in usage,「ので」generally has an objective, logical, and polite tone, while「から」is seen as more subjective and emotional.
1. 安かったので、それを買いました。
I bought it because it was cheap.
2. これは きらいだから、いりません。
I don't need this because I don't like it.
