～ば［家庭条件（かていじょうけん）］

hypothetical situation

◎ ~ ba is the expression of a hypothetical situation, and「A ば、B」represents "when situation or circum-stance A happens, B. "「ば」is expressed as 「-eba」in the conjugated part of verbs and adjectives.

1. これを読（よ）めば、わかります。
    You will understand if you read this.

2. 練習（れんしゅう）をすれば、うまくなります。
    You will become better if you pratice.

3. 安（やす）ければ、買（か）うつもりです。
    I intend to buy it if is cheap.

～のだ

Is ~

◎ An expression used to explain a situation or indicate the speaker's judgment in order to make someone understand.

1. きのうは　早（はや）く　帰（かえ）って　すみません。ちょっと　つかれて　いた　のです。
    I'm sorry for leaving early yesterday. I was a little tired.

2. その　やり方（かた）は　よくないです。こう　すれば　いい　の　です。
    You shouldn't do it that way. It is better to do it like this.

～はず

Should be ~

◎ An expression to indicate the speaker's decision based on objective resoning. The negative form is「はずがない」.

1. １０時（じ）を　すぎて　いるので、お店（みせ）は　開（あ）いている　はずです。
    It is past 10, so the store should be open.

2. こんな　むずかし　しゅくだい、明日（あした）までに　できる　はずが　ないです。
    It shouldn't be possible to do homework this difficult by tomorrow.

Reading

   夏休（なつやす）みに、あきらさんが　はたらいて　いる　レストランで　２週間（しゅうかん）、アルバイトを　しました。慣（な）れなくて　大変（たいへん）でしたが、いい　けいけんが　できました。機会（きかい）が　あれば、また、やりたいと　思（おも）いました。すると　今日（きょう）、お店（みせ）の　店長（てんちょう）から　電話（でんわ）が　あって、てつだって　ほしいと　言（い）われました。やりたい　の　ですが、今（いま）は　難（むずか）しいと　思（おも）いました。これから　レポートや　しゅくだいが　多（おお）く　なります。きっと　忙（いそが）しく　なる　はず　ですから。ざんねん　ですが、しばらくできないと　返事（へんじ）しました。
