	Meaning

	Explanation & Usage
☞	Used to express that a result is inevitable, with the reason explained before or after it.
	Examples
1	暑(あつ)いわけだ。気温(きおん)が36度(ど)もある。No wonder it's hot. The temperature is 36 degrees.
2	「田中(たなか)さん、彼女(かのじょ)にふられたらしいよ。」「なるほど、それで、元(げん)気(き)がないわけだ。」I heard Tanaka was dumped by his girlfriend. I see. No wonder he looks so down.

	Meaning
☞	It is not that...; not necessarily...
	Explanation & Usage
☞	Used to explain that a situation is not as serious or extreme as the other person assumes.
	Examples
1	きらいなわけではないが、肉(にく)はあまり食(た)べない。It's not that I dislike meat, but I don't eat much of it.
2	テレビは見(み)ないわけではないが、音楽(おんがく)を聴(き)いているほうが多(おお)い。It's not that I don't watch TV, but I spend more time listening to music.

	Meaning
☞	There is no way; it cannot possibly be; surely
	Explanation & Usage
☞	Often used to assert that something cannot possibly happen, based on the speaker's grounds.
	Examples
1	あの強(つよ)い相手(あいて)に勝(か)てるわけがない。There's no way we can beat such a strong opponent.
2	「このパン、古(ふる)くない？」「古(ふる)いわけないよ。昨日(きのう)買(か)ったんだから。」Isn't this bread old? There's no way it's old. I bought it yesterday.

～休(やす)むわけにはいかない

Structure

	Meaning
☞	Must; have no choice but to; cannot avoid
	Explanation & Usage
☞	Used to express the feeling of being forced by circumstances to do something, even unwillingly.
	Examples
1	大事(だいじ)な会議(かいぎ)があるから、休(やす)むわけにはいかない。I have an important meeting, so I can't take the day off.
2	社長(しゃちょう)の命令(めいれい)だから、従(したが)わないわけにはいかない。Since it is the president's order, I cannot refuse to obey.
