☞	Suppose that...; if...
	Explanation & Usage
☞	Used to propose an unreal hypothesis and the consequence of that unreal situation.
	Examples
1	もし試験(しけん)を受(う)けていたなら、合格(ごうかく)していたと思(おも)う。If I had taken the exam, I think I would have passed.
2	もし彼(かれ)が社長(しゃちょう)でなかったなら、会社(かいしゃ)はつぶれていたと思(おも)う。If he had not been the president, I think the company would have gone bankrupt.
3	もし、留学(りゅうがく)しなかったなら、今(いま)ごろは国(くに)で結婚(けっこん)しているだろう。If I had not studied abroad, I would probably be married in my country by now.

☞	Used for a hypothetical situation considered unlikely.
	Examples

2	もし、お金(かね)がたくさんあったとしても、そんなものは買(か)わない。Even if I had a lot of money, I would not buy something like that.
3	もし決勝戦(けっしょうせん)に残(のこ)ったとしたって、優勝(ゆうしょう)は難(むずか)しいでしょう。Even if we reached the final, winning the championship would probably be difficult.

☞	Used to present a hypothetical condition.
	Examples
1	もしも生(う)まれ変(か)われるなら、男(おとこ)になりたい。If I could be born again, I would like to be a man.
2	もしも地震(じしん)が起(お)きても、この家(いえ)、丈夫(じょうぶ)だから倒(たお)れないでしょう。Even if an earthquake occurs, this house is sturdy, so it probably will not collapse.
2	あの子(こ)にもしものことがあったら、どうしよう。What will I do if something happens to that child?
